About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Moscato grapes come from vineyards at the foot of the Kuddia volcano, in the heart of Pantelleria. Coste di Kuddia was established after Prince Strozzi invested in winegrowing on the island in 2003. Its vineyards lie along Pantelleria’s volcanic coastline, known locally as kuddìa, and are planted to Moscato d’Alessandria.

The vines are trained using Pantelleria’s traditional bush-vine system. After harvest, the grapes are laid on stone slabs and dried in the sun.

Grapes

100% Moscato Bianco (Zibibbo), also identified as Moscato d’Alessandria.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in steel. Early bottling is used to retain the variety’s primary aromas.

Technical data

Passito di Pantelleria D.O.C. Bottled in a 500 ml format.

Tasting profile

Deep golden yellow with amber highlights. The aroma is highly intense, with notes of apricot, dried figs and withered rose. Full and sweet on the palate, balanced by pronounced acidity, with a very persistent finish.

Label / history

The name Kammeo refers to the label’s cameo-like design, which portrays the profiles of Prince Strozzi’s daughters.
