About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are located on limestone soils in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini area. Yields are kept low, and only healthy grapes are used.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and gently pressed. The must ferments in stainless-steel vats at 26–27 °C, followed by 14 days of maceration.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for 4–6 months, followed by further maturation in bottle.
Label / history
Castello di Poppiano has belonged to the Guicciardini family since 1199. Originally built as part of Florence’s outer defences, it has long been a centre of winegrowing and olive cultivation.
