About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in the mountainous countryside around Mount Taburno in Campania, southern Italy, at 300–400 metres above sea level. Volcanic soils support the late-ripening fruit, which benefits from a long growing season, hot days and moderately cool nights.
Vinification
The grapes are usually harvested in November, partly by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks for 20–25 days at a controlled temperature of 27 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in new barriques, followed by a further 18 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Generous, with a persistent aroma typical of Aglianico and a complex structure.
