About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the La Solatìa Estate near Monteriggioni, close to Siena. The vineyards are situated at 190–250 m above sea level on loam-silty-clay soil with little coarse material and good water-retention capacity.

Grapes

Latest published vintage (2024): 46% Syrah, 20% Petit Verdot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, then fermented in stainless-steel vats.

Ageing

Syrah and Petit Verdot mature for approximately five months in ceramic amphoras, while Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon remain in stainless-steel vats. The high-fired ceramic amphoras have very low oxygen permeability and strong thermal insulation, helping retain freshness and vivid fruit expression.

Tasting profile

Ruby red. Blackberry, cherry and other wild-berry aromas meet light spicy nuances. The palate is well structured and savoury, with good persistence and an approachable, fresh character.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C. Pair with meat, spicy dishes or aged cheeses.

Vintage notes

The 2024 growing season began with a wet, rainy spring that required sustained attention to vineyard health. Very warm conditions in July and August were moderated by thunderstorms and falling temperatures.

Label / history

The estate was submerged beneath the sea in ancient times, leaving a substantial fossil presence. These fossils are represented on the label.
