About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the La Solatìa Estate near the small medieval village of Monteriggioni, close to Siena. The vineyards lie at 190–250 m above sea level on loamy-silty-clayey soils rich in limestone and containing travertine.

Grapes

100% Pinot Grigio.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and cooled before gentle pressing. Alcoholic fermentation is divided between stainless-steel vats and ceramic amphoras.

Ageing

The wine matures for five months on its fine lees in stainless steel and ceramic amphoras, with periodic bâtonnage contributing body and roundness. Amphora ageing preserves the fruit character while adding textural complexity.

Tasting profile

Bright straw yellow. The aroma combines pear and tropical fruit with floral nuances of broom and hawthorn. The palate balances aromatic freshness with breadth, leading to a savoury, persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–10°C. Pair with grilled fish or seafood-based pasta dishes.

Label / history

The first vintage was produced in 2002, following earlier research into the performance of international grape varieties in Tuscany. The wine was conceived to express Pinot Grigio in a refined and versatile Ruffino style.
