About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Estate-grown Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon come from the historic Terre Alte vineyards at Rosazzo. The vines, trained mainly using the Cappuccina system, grow on Eocene marl and sandstone soils. Healthy, fully ripe bunches are harvested by hand into small crates.

Grapes

Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon; the proportions are not specified.

Vinification

The grapes are carefully destemmed, given a short maceration and softly pressed. The resulting must is clarified by settling and starts fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. It is then transferred to oak casks, where alcoholic fermentation is completed and malolactic fermentation takes place.

Ageing

The wine remains on its lees to develop savouriness, creaminess and ageing capacity. Bottling takes place during the summer. Bottle maturation gradually brings out complex tertiary aromas.

Technical data

The 2022 vintage is classified DOCG Rosazzo and has 13.5% alcohol. Published formats include 0.75 L and a 3 L Jéroboam supplied in a wooden case.

Tasting profile

Brilliant golden yellow. The exceptionally complex nose combines elderflower and broom with guava, mango and white fig, lifted by a vivid mineral impression reminiscent of a sun-warmed riverbed. Saffron, caramel butter and Mediterranean herbs follow, with sage especially prominent. The palate has a very fine texture, full structure and an energetic, persistent progression. Freshly cut ripe peach moves into lemon curd, supported by bright, savoury acidity. Yellow plum, toasted almond, white chocolate and a distinctive saline note shape the exceptionally long finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 10–12 °C. Particularly suited to fish, vegetable-based first courses, white meats and cheeses.

Label / history

Created in 1981, Terre Alte is rooted in the historic vineyards of Rosazzo and in the estate’s commitment to age-worthy white wine. Its structure allows the blend’s fruit and floral character to evolve toward a complex tertiary bouquet in bottle.
