About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow in the west-facing “Il Pino” vineyard, on hills at approximately 270 metres elevation.
Vinification
After cryomaceration, 30% of the grapes ferment in barriques, while the remaining 70% ferment in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The barrique-fermented portion matures on its lees for three months. After blending, the wine undergoes further maturation in oak barrels and is released one year after the harvest.
Tasting profile
The wine is structured, elegant, refined and deep, with a long finish.
Label / history
It was among the first Italian white wines to be aged in oak barrels, beginning in the 1970s. The name recalls the Roman origins of Torgiano and a tower built in honour of Janus, the two-faced god known in Italian as Giano. The label depicts Perugia’s XIII-century Fontana Maggiore, whose carvings include scenes of grape harvesting and processing.
