About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards on gentle hills and plains in a warm climate. Fruit from several vineyards is blended to add complexity, structure, aromatic breadth and depth of flavour.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in the first week of September. Maceration lasts 10 days at a controlled temperature, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks with selected yeasts. The wine is made close to the vineyards, then blended and bottled at Li Veli.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for three months.
Label / history
The Falvo family, owners of Li Veli, launched Contrade as an independent brand in 2015. The name derives from the Latin for “a plot of land” and refers to named vineyards defined by olive trees, stone walls or other natural boundaries. The label reinterprets a window from the Basilica di Santa Croce in Lecce.
