About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The 5 ha Froi vineyard is in Neive, at an altitude of 380 m, with a south-west exposure. Its mixed soils are predominantly clay and chalk. The vines are 30–40 years old, and yields do not exceed 8,000 kg/ha. Organic practices, minimal intervention and biological management are used to maintain the natural balance among the soil, climate and vines.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24 °C for 10–12 days, with frequent pumping over to extract colour and tannins. Only naturally occurring yeasts from the grape skins are used. The wine is generally bottled without filtration.
Ageing
The wine matures for eight months in steel and cement tanks, followed by four months in bottle.
