Label / history

Albinelli is an Italian name with roots in medieval Emilia-Romagna and the name of a market in Modena. Since the Middle Ages, Italian merchants traded wine, vinegar, cheese and cured meats there, transporting them by land and sea to other regions and neighbouring countries and returning with spirits, oil and wine. A member of the extended family accompanied the goods, supervised their transport and selected what would be brought back to Modena in exchange.

Rather than buying vineyards, these merchants travelled through Italy, selected wines and returned with them to Emilia-Romagna for sale. Perlino drew on this history when creating the Albinelli collection.
