About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Inarno is made exclusively from Sangiovese grown on the Petrolo estate in Val d’Arno di Sopra. Its fruit comes from historic vineyards planted in the 1970s as well as more recent plantings.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese. The wine is certified organic and is produced and bottled at the estate under the IGT Toscana classification.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand into perforated crates to avoid damaging the bunches and are carefully selected on a sorting table. Natural fermentation takes place with native yeasts in vitrified concrete vats. Extraction is managed through frequent yet gentle manual pump-overs, followed by a long maceration.
Ageing
Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the wine matures in concrete vats. It is bottled only a few months after harvest, in the manner of a young Chianti, with a very limited addition of sulphites to preserve freshness. This early release is intended to emphasize fragrance and ease of drinking.
Tasting profile
The style centers on fragrance, freshness and drinkability, expressing the generous character of Sangiovese grown in Val d’Arno di Sopra.
Vintage notes
The 2019 growing season was highly favorable. A mild winter was followed by a rainy spring without excessive precipitation. Lower temperatures in May slowed what would otherwise have been precocious vine development. Summer was hot and relatively dry, allowing the grapes to reach balanced, complete ripeness.
Label / history
Inarno was conceived as an artisanal expression of Sangiovese and of the traditional work that continues among the small winegrowers of the area.
