About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie at altitude on Etna’s volcanic slopes. Lava sands and volcanic rock, together with marked differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures, shape the growing conditions. The altitude slows ripening, helping the grapes retain freshness and precise aromas in the warm Mediterranean climate.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures in concrete and stainless-steel tanks, with skin contact lasting up to 40 days. The extended maceration builds aromatic depth and tannin structure while preserving clear, pure fruit flavours.
Ageing
The wine matures for 14 months in large oak barrels, which soften the tannins and create a rounder texture.
Tasting profile
Refined, vibrant and mineral, with delicate structure and aromatic complexity. Clear red-berry aromas are joined by gentle floral notes. The palate has graceful tannins and vivid, almost electric acidity.
Label / history
The name refers to Etna’s largest historic eruption, which lasted from 1614 to 1624 and shaped the landscape of the local vineyards.
