Vineyard and terroir
The Grillo grows in the company's vineyards in sunny Sicily.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September, then destemmed and gently pressed at the winery. The must settles for 36 hours before fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 15 °C.
Ageing
The wine spends a short time on the fine lees to preserve its aromas.
Tasting profile
Clean, aromatic and full-flavoured, with a balanced, refreshing taste.
Label / history
The "La Segreta" range is named after the forest surrounding the "Ulmo" vineyard in the Menfi area, which belongs to the Planeta winery. The range now has a new design inspired by the nature of Sicily. The artists drew on the work of the pharmacist Giuseppe Riggio, who created an "erbario picto" in the early 19th century, depicting Sicily's flora. The design is a collection of herbs, flowers and roots.
