About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The estate’s vineyards are in Valtellina, where vines grow on steep mountain slopes terraced over centuries and supported by dry-stone walls. Placed end to end, the walls would extend for 2,500 km. The area has a Mediterranean climate.
Grapes
The variety is known locally as Chiavennasca.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and fermented in steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests in a 10,400-litre wooden cask numbered 068.
Label / history
The number of the ageing cask inspired the label design.
