About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the “Vigneto della Mattina” vineyard, which lies at more than 300 m above sea level and faces east and southeast.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates and sorted by hand. Maceration lasts 12 days at approximately 25 °C, with regular pumping over, followed by gentle pressing.
Ageing
The wine rests for 12 months in barriques and small oak barrels, followed by 6 months in steel tanks and 6 months in bottle. It is bottled in June and July during the waning moon, a practice intended to preserve stability and finesse.
Vintage notes
The 2020 growing season in Tuscany began with a mild winter, followed by a changeable spring alternating between sunshine and rain and a hot, dry summer. Cool nights preserved acidity and aromas. The grapes were harvested ripe and healthy in favourable weather at the end of September. The red wines required time to open up, with generous fruit and elegant aromas attributed to the intense summer sunshine.
