About this wine
Vinification
Chief winemaker Alberto Antonini used hand-harvested fruit, gently pressed in large 500 L oak vessels. Fermentation and maceration lasted two weeks with natural yeasts. The wine was then transferred to tightly sealed oak barrels for further fermentation. It was bottled without fining or filtration.
Ageing
The wine matured for 20 months in French oak barrels, of which 20% were new.
Vintage notes
In 2011, heavy rain throughout winter and into early spring supported healthy, steady growth. Late in the season, mild temperatures and gentle sunshine helped the grapes develop good concentration and ripe flavours.
