About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from Pozzo dell’Annunziata. The vineyard has an east-to-southeast exposure and is planted at 8,000 vines per hectare. Yield is restricted to 500 g per vine.
Grapes
100% Barbera.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation starts spontaneously without inoculated yeast and lasts between 10 and 30 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is subsequently transferred to wood and is not filtered. No substances intended to alter colour, structure, aroma or tannin are used during cellar operations; sulphites at bottling are normally below half the legally permitted quantity.
Ageing
The wine is intended for extended bottle maturation. It is recommended after at least 5–6 years in bottle and can continue developing slowly over 20–30 years when stored under optimal conditions.
Label / history
The first vintage was 1996.
