The fruit comes from highly regarded vineyard areas across the Chianti appellation. The vineyards stand at 200–350 m, and their soils are marked by galestro.

Grapes

The blend is 70% Sangiovese; the remaining 30% comprises Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and other complementary varieties.

Ageing

Maturation takes place in stainless-steel and concrete tanks.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18 °C.

Label / history

The inaugural vintage dates to 1877, the year Ruffino was founded. The wine was conceived within founders Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino’s pursuit of an “ideal wine” and remains closely associated with the origins of the house.
