About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Grillo comes from a 12 ha vineyard in Contrada Samperi, Marsala, in western Sicily. The vines are more than 20 years old and grow on level, medium-textured calcareous-sandy soil. They are trained on Guyot espalier at a density of 3,500 vines per hectare. Yield is 20 hl/ha.
Grapes
100% Grillo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested manually in small crates in the first week of September and selected by hand. They undergo soft pressing and natural sedimentation, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. This cool, controlled vinification is intended to retain the variety’s fresher and more delicate fruit character while limiting excessive oxidation.
Ageing
The wine matures for four years in constantly topped French oak barrels. Keeping the barrels full moderates oxidation while oak ageing adds softness and depth.

Label / history
Vigna La Miccia was first produced in 1985 as a new interpretation of Marsala Oro, combining local tradition with temperature-controlled winemaking. The current wine page presents it as Marsala Superiore Oro Riserva 2020 DOC, while the available technical sheet describes the 2017 semi-dry Riserva.
