About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Colle alle Macchie is a Montefalco cru planted in 1997 at 420 m a.s.l. The Guyot-trained vines face south and grow at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare in deep clay soil. Yield is 35 quintals per hectare. The exposure and soil favor grapes of exceptional ripeness.

Grapes

100% Sagrantino.

Vinification

The wine remains in contact with the skins for more than one month.

Ageing

Maturation lasts at least 36 months in large French-oak barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle.

Technical data

Production is limited to approximately 3,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

A muscular, powerful and intensely expressive red with considerable complexity. Its imposing structure is shaped by a very fine tannic weave. The cru emphasizes Sagrantino’s natural exuberance, combining power and intensity with exceptional longevity and the capacity to improve with age.

Serving and pairing

Pair with mature cheeses.

Label / history

Conceived as an especially uncompromising expression within the estate’s range, Colle alle Macchie presents Sagrantino in its most powerful cru form.
