Vineyard and terroir

Misto Mare combines fruit from approximately 30 partner growers across Alto Adige. The vineyards occupy varied sites between 210 and 740 metres above sea level and are undergoing conversion to organic or biodynamic cultivation. The blend encompasses many of Alto Adige’s common soil types, with particular emphasis on volcanic bedrock and limestone-rich bedrock.

Fruit may also come from organically or biodynamically farmed boundary rows that cannot be certified because of possible drift from neighbouring vineyards.

Grapes

Blend proportions and varieties vary by vintage. The latest published vintage, 2025, combines 14 white and red grape varieties, both indigenous and international. The components come from sites with different levels of ripeness, acidity and sugar.

Vinification

The 2025 wine fermented in stainless-steel tanks and underwent partial malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

Maturation took place in stainless-steel tanks.

Technical data

The 2025 vintage was harvested between 23 August and 19 September. Alcohol is 11.5% by volume and acidity is 5.2 g/L.

Tasting profile

Light yellow with faint bronze reflections at the rim. The youthful, pronounced and gently aromatic bouquet shows apple, pear and citrus fruit with floral notes. Medium-bodied, balanced, fruity, fresh and dry.

The broader style moves between softness and fruit, depth and lightness, with moderate acidity extending through the finish and a silky texture.

Serving and pairing

Suitable as an aperitif and with vegetarian dishes, raw fish or sushi. Optimal drinking maturity is 1–2 years.

Vintage notes

Misto Mare is intentionally dynamic: the varieties may change each year as certified growers’ grapes move into the main range and fruit from newly converting partners takes their place.

Label / history

Created from the 2024 vintage as a gateway for growers converting to organic or biodynamic farming, Misto Mare is the exception to the certification of the rest of the range from that vintage onward. EU organic certification requires a three-year conversion period.

Finnish artist Klaus Haapaniemi designed the label after visiting the estate. Its imagery links an underwater realm of whale, seahorses and corals with the Dolomites and a cosmic world of planets, comets and stars. The name refers to Alto Adige’s marine past: about 200 million years ago, an ocean covered the region and its sediments contributed to the formation of the Dolomites.

The wine is also offered in 1.5-litre Magnum format. The Magnum packages show adjoining sections of the label artwork that form a continuous composition when placed together.
