Vineyard and terroir

Selected vineyards in the Bolzano area, Ora and Magrè lie at 210–280 m a.s.l. The soils are deep, sandy and alluvial, with limestone content.

Grapes

Lagrein. Documented in Alto Adige as early as 1370, the variety originated as a natural crossing of Teroldego with another indigenous grape variety and is related to Syrah. Cultivation is directed toward expressing Lagrein’s characteristic juiciness and acidity.

Vinification

Maceration takes place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

Maturation lasts approximately 12 months, divided between concrete vessels and stainless-steel tanks.

Technical data

The 2023 vintage has 12% alcohol by volume and an estimated drinking window of 2–6 years.

Tasting profile

Cherry-red with a ruby shimmer. The intense aroma shows plum and berry fruit, spice and animal notes. The medium-bodied palate is structured and fresh, with present tannins and a refined bitter note.

Serving and pairing

Pair with beef, lamb, venison, game or any kind of cheese.
