Vineyard and terroir
VERSALTO combines Pinot Bianco from areas with markedly different climates and geology. Fruit from the Bassa Atesina comes from a Mediterranean-influenced area with calcareous soils, while the Merano component reflects volcanic rock and an Alpine climate. The specified origins are Tirolo near Merano, Pochi and Penone. Their soils are described as stony and sandy with limestone content.
The technical origin entry gives an elevation of 480–520 m a.s.l., while the introductory text says that the vineyards are predominantly situated above 550 m.
