Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Syrah is grown on the hills of Crotona.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are delivered to the winery, destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation lasts around 10 days at a controlled temperature no higher than 25 °C.
Ageing
About 70% of the wine is aged in second- and third-use French oak barriques, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften the flavour. The remainder matures in stainless steel tanks until bottling, which preserves the purity of the grape and its freshness.
Tasting profile
A soft, expressive red that keeps Syrah's balance and a lively character.
Vintage notes
2024 was a fairly productive year in Tuscany. A mild, rainy winter was followed by an equally wet, cool spring. The damp start to the season encouraged early berry growth and prepared the vines for a dry, warm summer. Rain returned near harvest and disrupted the final stage of ripening.
Label / history
The name refers to the god Achelo, who appears on one of the most important Etruscan artefacts, kept at the Museum of the Etruscan Academy in Cortona.
