Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown at Tenuta Sa Tanca, 250–300 m above sea level. The relatively loose, medium-textured soils contain limestone and clay. The Mediterranean climate brings marked temperature variation and strong airflow.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning by experienced team members and carefully sorted. Maceration lasts 10–12 days in ceramic vats. Fermentation uses lactic acid bacteria, contributing a rounder, fuller flavour.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10–12 months in French oak barriques, 50% of which are new, followed by six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Bovale Sardo contributes power, Carignano balance and Cannonau concentration. The wine has complex aromas and a generous, rounded flavour, with good balance even when young.
Label / history
The label depicts an ancient Greek coin found in the estate’s vineyards. The 2017 vintage marked the 20th anniversary of Korem’s creation. The wine arose from the Argiolas family’s efforts to refine Bovale while combining innovation with Sardinian winemaking traditions.
