Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards in the south of Sardinia, at Guamaggiore and Selegas, on limestone-clay soils with a small amount of silt. The nearby Mediterranean Sea, mild winters, limited rainfall and very hot, windy weather keep the grapes fresh and aromatic, with good acidity.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in October, early in the morning. Cold maceration on the skins lasts 4–6 hours, which preserves the fresh, fruity taste and lively aroma. After natural settling at 10 °C, fermentation takes place at 16 °C. The wine then spends 4 weeks in temperature-controlled steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 3 months in steel, then a further 3 months in the winery's cellars after bottling. The 2025 vintage will keep well until at least 2029.
Tasting profile
An intense, aromatic rosé with a fresh, fruity taste and lively aroma, and good acidity.
Label / history
Francesco Argiolas planted his first vine at the beginning of the twentieth century, laying the foundations of a large family estate. His son Antonio, born in 1906, continued the work and made Argiolas well known. He began with four hectares of vineyards, reinvested all profits in the business, and added cellars, a mill and a small dairy operation. He led the company for more than seventy years. The estate now includes 30 ha of vineyards and olive groves, and the fourth generation continues the work.
