The Sangiovese comes from vineyards at around 80 m above sea level, where limestone and clay soils predominate. The vines are eight years old on average.

Label / history
Duca di Saragnano takes its name from the warrior Duke di Saragnano, who fought the Saracens for the freedom of Southern Italy. Luigi Barbanera, an ancestor of the Barbanera family, was a close friend of the Duke.
