Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in the producer’s vineyards in the Montalcino wine-growing area of Tuscany. The vineyards occupy southwest-facing slopes at 350 m above sea level, with sandy limestone soils and a planting density of 3,900 vines per hectare. The Mediterranean climate is among the warmest and driest in Tuscany.
Grapes
The wine uses Sangiovese Grosso, also known as Brunello.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified using a traditional red-wine method. Maceration lasts 15–20 days at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine matures for 36 months in 30 hL oak barrels, followed by 6–9 months in bottle in a dark, temperature-controlled room kept at no more than 15 °C. The 2018 vintage is expected to show its full potential from 2023 to 2033.
