Vineyard and terroir

The Nebbiolo comes from 2 ha of vineyards in Barolo at 300 m with a west-facing exposure. Planted in 1991 on K5BB rootstock, the vines are trained to a vertical canopy and traditionally Guyot-pruned. Spacing is 1 × 2.7 m, equivalent to 3,700 vines per hectare, and yield is approximately 7,000 kg/ha.

Grapes

Nebbiolo, Lampia sub-variety.

Vinification

Fermentation and skin maceration last between six and ten days. The wine is subsequently held at 18–20 °C to encourage malolactic fermentation. The standard production description specifies ageing exclusively in stainless steel, followed by bottling and release in spring. A glass closure is used.

Technical data

The published review for the 2024 vintage records 13% alcohol.

Tasting profile

Designed to show Nebbiolo’s freshness and elegance in youth, it offers primary floral aromas of rose and violet together with citrus nuances of orange peel. The palate is fresh and relatively approachable. The 2024 tasting notes add strawberry, cake spice and star anise, with bright acidity, supple tannins and a bitter-orange close. Another 2024 assessment describes red cherry, currant, floral tones and a long finish.

Serving and pairing

Suitable for lighter summer dishes and fish, and sufficiently balanced to drink without food. It can develop with some ageing but is intended chiefly for relatively youthful enjoyment; the 2024 review recommends drinking through 2027.

Label / history

The label depicts a poppy, a familiar flower in the Langhe. Its imagery evokes June, when poppies turn the hills red.
