Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are located in Barolo at 300 m and face west. The Nebbiolo vines, planted in 1991 on K5BB rootstock, are trained to a vertical canopy and pruned by traditional Guyot. Spacing of 1 × 2.7 m gives a density of 3,700 vines per hectare.
Grapes
Nebbiolo, Lampia sub-variety.
Vinification
Red grapes remain in contact with their skins for one night. Approximately 2% of the juice is then drawn off and completes fermentation separately at 20 °C. Once alcoholic fermentation has finished, the temperature is lowered to prevent malolactic fermentation and preserve the grape’s acidity. The resulting Italian-style Rosato is more deeply colored and fuller-bodied than a white-wine-like rosé style.
Technical data
The published review for the 2024 vintage records 12.5% alcohol.
Tasting profile
Primary aromas center on flowers, rose and peach. The palate is less dense and less tannic than Langhe DOC Nebbiolo. The 2024 shows red cherry, wild rose and peach-pit aromas, followed by strawberry, pomegranate, orange zest and white pepper. Crisp acidity drives the refreshing, savory palate toward a saline finish.
Serving and pairing
Ready to drink as an aperitif or alongside fish and summer dishes. The 2024 tasting note recommends drinking through 2026.
