Vineyard and terroir

The Nebbiolo grows in the 1.5 ha Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont. The southwest-facing site lies on hillsides at 340 m above sea level, with soils composed mainly of clay and limestone. Soil samples are taken twice a year to monitor the balance of their elements, and pruning is carried out carefully to avoid damaging the bunches.

Vinification

The grapes ripen in mid-October and are harvested by hand when fully ripe. They macerate for around three weeks, then ferment for 15–20 days at a controlled temperature of 28 °C. The wine is bottled without filtration.

Ageing

The wine matures in French oak barrels for at least two years. It requires at least another ten years to reach peak maturity.

Tasting profile

The wine is beautifully balanced, with a velvety texture and an inviting aroma. The finish is very long and harmonious.

Label / history

Annual production is 5,500 bottles.
