Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit grows in the Lugana area near Lake Garda, on the Sirmione peninsula. The vines are 10–35 years old and are planted on limestone and clay soils. A mild maritime climate permits a relatively late harvest.
Grapes
The wine is made from a careful selection of Turbiana grapes.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is prevented.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for six months, followed by two months in bottle.
Vintage notes
Winter and spring 2022 in Veneto were quite dry, with unusual temperature patterns. Vine growth began late, with delayed budbreak, although high temperatures and drought advanced the start of flowering by ten days. The summer brought 50 days of intense heat. Rain in late August and early September then allowed the grapes to reach ideal ripeness while retaining acidity and freshness. Yields were approximately 20% below the average of the preceding five years, but quality was exceptional.
