Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Vallegrande vineyard in Treiso. The vines were planted between 1960 and 2000 and have a western exposure on bluish clay-limestone marl.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in early October, then destemmed and pressed. The must ferments on the skins in stainless-steel tanks for 7–15 days using the traditional method.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels and a further six months in bottle before release. The oak has a gentle influence, allowing the character of the terroir to remain prominent. The wine becomes soft and elegant three years after harvest and continues to develop for at least 15 years.
Tasting profile
Elegant, refined and deep, with Nebbiolo's power kept in balance. It softens after three years from the harvest.
