Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from hillside vineyards in the historic Soave Classico zone at Brognoligo di Monteforte d’Alpone. The volcanic soils have a tuff-basalt composition. Yield is 80 quintals per hectare, and harvest takes place in late September.

Grapes

100% Garganega.

Vinification

The wine is made with skin contact in stainless-steel tanks at 16–18°C. The product description gives the maceration as several hours, while the technical sheet specifies approximately 25–30 hours. The wine is subsequently matured for about eight months in 400-litre ceramic vessels.

Ageing

Approximately eight months in 400-litre ceramic vessels.

Technical data

Soave Classico Superiore DOCG. The product page gives approximately 13.5% alcohol, while the technical sheet gives approximately 13%. Production is about 3,500 bottles, in 750 ml, 1,500 ml and 3,000 ml formats.

Tasting profile

Straw yellow with old-gold reflections. The complex, harmonious bouquet brings together citrus and Mediterranean-herb notes. The palate is intense and elegant, with pronounced minerality and savouriness leading to a long, fresh finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–10°C. Pair with goat’s or sheep’s cheeses, mature aromatic cow’s-milk cheeses, sauced fish first courses or salt cod. It is presented as a wine for special occasions.

Label / history

Bucciato recalls an old rural practice in which Garganega was vinified in wooden presses and left in contact with its skins, producing distinctive colour and flavour nuances. The wine’s first phase of production ended in the early 2000s. After years of experimentation, it returned with the 2018 vintage as a tribute to memory and the lessons of the past; this story is summarized on the back label.
