Il Palazzo Dolcetto d'Alba Superiore DOC

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from estate vineyards at Podere Il Palazzo in Madonna di Como, a hamlet of Alba regarded as well suited to Dolcetto. The soils are rich in calcareous sand, and the reported vineyard yield is 75 q/ha.

Grapes

100% Dolcetto.

Vinification

Fermentation with maceration lasts 10–12 days at 28°C. The wine is then racked into stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine matures in stainless steel for at least six months, followed by bottling and at least six further months of maturation. This completes the 12-month period required for Dolcetto d’Alba Superiore.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet is broad and intense, with floral and fruit notes. Harmonious, velvety and elegant on the palate, with pleasantly soft, sweet-toned tannins. It is dry and finishes with a characteristic almond note.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with first courses, charcuterie, roasts, mushrooms and cheeses.

An old episcopal palace once stood in this locality, giving Il Palazzo its name.
