Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from 2.28 ha of estate vineyards planted on the sunny, steep terrain of Podere Tavoleto in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, within the municipality of Alba. The vineyard yield is reported as 70 q/ha.

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Fermentation with maceration lasts 10–12 days at 28°C. The wine is then racked.

Ageing

Maturation takes place in oak tonneaux for at least 12 months, followed by bottling and a further six months of ageing. The Superiore category requires at least 18 months of total ageing, including six months in wood, calculated from 1 November of the harvest year; release is possible from 1 May of the second year after harvest.

Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Superiore. First produced in 1989. Available in 0.375, 0.75, 1.5, 3, 6, 9 and 12 L formats.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with garnet highlights. The rich, complex bouquet combines incense, liquorice, vanilla and ripe fruit. The palate is harmonious, velvety and elegant, with pleasantly soft tannins. The wine is characterised as structured and long-lived.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with first courses, charcuterie, roasts, game, mushrooms and cheeses.
