Ageing

The 2020 vintage matured for at least 24 months in oak barrels.

Technical data

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. The 2020 wine has 14.5% alcohol and is available in a 0.75 L bottle.

Tasting profile

The 2020 Campone Brunello has an intense ruby-red colour. Its predominantly fruity bouquet recalls cherries, plums, and red and black berries, complemented by spice and tertiary nuances. The palate is balanced and rounded, with gentle tannins and a long, persistent finish. The wine combines a ready-to-drink character with substantial structure.

Serving and pairing

Pair with braised red meats and stews, roasts, or aged cheeses. Panforte offers a bolder pairing.

Vintage notes

Winter 2020 brought limited rainfall, following the replenishment of water reserves during the final months of 2019. Those reserves helped the vines withstand the higher temperatures experienced from June through August. May was warm, dry, and slightly windy. Dry conditions continued into harvest, allowing healthy, structured, fully ripe grapes with optimal phenolic and sugar maturity to reach the cellar.
