Vineyard and terroir
The 27-hectare Campomaggio estate lies in Chianti Classico’s “Golden Triangle,” between Radda, Greve and Castellina in Chianti. Its soils are dominated by limestone, sand, pebbles and clay. The vineyards form part of the Lucarelli wildlife oasis, where plants and animals coexist in their natural environment.
Grapes
Sangiovese forms the basis of the blend, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah added.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels after fermentation.
Label / history
The wine takes its name from the Campomaggio estate. The estate dates to 1700, when its manor house and a village overlooking the vineyard were built. It passed to the Sedelmayr family in the early 1900s and to the Castellani family in 1990. The Castellani family replanted the old vineyards and built a new winery.
