Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Primitivo is grown in the company's own vineyards in Puglia, Italy's southernmost, warmest and poorest region. Puglia has a long Mediterranean coastline, with plains that gradually give way to low mountains. Its sun-scorched limestone soils are cooled by fresh Mediterranean breezes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified in the traditional way at a controlled temperature.
Tasting profile
A rich, firm dry red.
Serving and pairing
Suits any meat dish and pasta with a meat sauce.
Label / history
Primitivo was the first Puglian grape to become well known beyond the region. Its wines were first sent to other parts of Italy, including Tuscany and Piedmont, where they were blended with local varieties to add power and colour. Producers in Puglia later found that Primitivo could also make excellent single-variety wines with rich flavour, deep colour and concentrated aromas.
