Vineyard and terroir
The Fassini estate lies among old cypress trees in the hills of the Montalcino wine-growing area in Tuscany. The local limestone- and slate-rich soils promote vigorous vine growth, while the region’s dry, hot climate is particularly well suited to the variety. Clay soils are unsuitable for it.
Vinification
The estate combines traditional winemaking methods with modern developments.
Ageing
The wine is aged in oak barrels.
Tasting profile
Ripe fruit gives the wine a robust, fruity palate with a slightly bitter finish. The delicate nose has aromas of strawberry, blueberry and flowers, with smoke, oak, cinnamon and clove notes contributed by barrel ageing.
Label / history
The small Fassini estate is now part of the Castellani group.
