Vineyard and terroir
The selected fruit comes from the estate’s vineyards at 440–470 metres above sea level. The vineyards occupy hilly ground, and the estate has 60 hectares under vine.
Grapes
The grapes are selected before vinification.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented for 20 days at a controlled temperature of 28 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels, followed by six months in bottle in the estate’s cellars.
Label / history
The estate’s castle dates from the 16th century. Originally owned by the Lombards, it retains its medieval character. The estate has belonged to the François family since 1897 and is now run by Alessandro François.
