Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from Castelvecchio in the Karst area of the province of Gorizia, near Sagrado. The landscape has arid, rocky ground with a shallow layer of red earth rich in iron and limestone. The vineyards are continuously ventilated and influenced by the nearby sea.

Grapes

Blend proportions vary by vintage. Latest published vintage (2021): 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Terrano.

Vinification

Sagrado Rosso is made only in the best years. Following maturation, the finest individual barrels are selected and assembled into the final cuvée before bottling.

The component wines mature for three years in barriques and tonneaux.
