Vinification
Traditional vinification. The grapes go into small vats, where they stay in contact with the skins together with specially selected yeasts. In January of the following year, once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine is filtered.
Ageing
The wine ages for 15–16 months in French oak barrels of 300 and 225 litres. After bottling it rests for at least another 6 months in a dedicated room at the winery.
Label / history
Part of the winery's "Super Tuscan" range. The term refers to Tuscan red wines that fall outside the designated DOC(G) areas. They may be made from any grape varieties, not only those permitted in a given region, and may be aged in French oak barriques rather than large Slavonian oak casks. A powerful flavour profile is a hallmark of the style.
