Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in the province of Siena at elevations of 250–600 metres.
Grapes
The blend consists mainly of Sangiovese, using the local Prugnolo Gentile clone, with small proportions of Canaiolo Nero and Malvasia.
Vinification
Vinification takes place in stainless-steel tanks over 10–12 days.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for 24 months.
Label / history
Wines bearing the Chiantigiane label are produced by several small wineries that have pooled their resources. The company has 2,460 ha of vineyards and cellars in the provinces of Florence, Siena and Pistoia.
