Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are situated on easterly exposed hillsides in La Morra at 250 m above sea level. Their soils are calcareous-clay. The vines average 20 years of age, with 4,000 plants per hectare and a yield of 55 hl/ha.
Vinification
The grapes undergo soft pressing, followed by brief contact between the must and skins. After static settling, fermentation takes place at 18°C.
Ageing
The wine matures in steel and then in bottle.
Technical data
Alcohol is 13%, with acidity of 5.5 g/L. Annual production is approximately 4,000 bottles, exclusively in a 0.75 L format. Cellaring potential is 2–3 years.
Tasting profile
Muted cherry in colour. The nose presents strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant, joined by pronounced dog rose and violet notes and a spicy accent. The palate is tangy, fresh, harmonious and distinctly fruity, with persistence and a balanced relationship between crispness and softness.
Serving and pairing
Pair with cured meats, cheeses or fish dishes, or serve as an aperitif.
