Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown in Puglia, one of the sunniest regions of southern Italy, under organic farming. The warm Mediterranean climate lets the grapes ripen fully and develop rich fruit aromas, while the influence of the sea helps preserve acidity.

Grapes

A blend of Chardonnay and Fiano. Chardonnay contributes roundness, structure and subtle creamy notes; Fiano adds floral aromas, minerality and freshness.

Vinification

Fermented in stainless steel tanks, then kept for a short time on fine lees, which gives a softer, fuller texture. The wine is made in a vegan way.

Tasting profile

Fresh, expressive and well balanced, with a southern Italian character: generous fruit and refreshing minerality. Ripe tropical fruit notes, good structure and a refreshing style.

Serving and pairing

Suited to summer lunches outdoors and to drinking by the sea.

Label / history

"3 Passo" means "Three Steps", referring to the wine's concept: Italian terroir, organic grapes and careful vegan winemaking.

Cielo e Terra was founded in 1908. The name joins terra, Italian for earth, with Cielo, the surname of the founding family. In 1930 Pietro Cielo began expanding and improving production; in 1962 new vineyards were planted and output rose. The winery is now led by the fourth-generation brothers Luca and Pierpaolo Cielo. It is one of the largest producers in the Veneto and owns around 300 ha. It belongs to the Gruppo Cantine Colli Berici, which has around 4,000 ha of vineyards and where most of the company's wines are produced. With the group's winemakers, Cielo e Terra takes part in a project to improve production and agriculture across the Berici Hills, from vineyard to bottle.

The Colli Berici are a series of ancient volcanic formations between Verona and Padua, with a very mild, sunny, Mediterranean-like climate. Grape growing has flourished there for thousands of years.
