Label / history
Maia takes its name from one of the seven sisters of the Pleiades. In ancient tradition, she guided the sailors and farmers of Lake Garda in navigation and harvesting. A daughter of Atlas, she was regarded by the Greeks as the most beautiful Pleiad, was loved by Zeus and became the mother of Hermes. Legend associated her both with destructive fire and with nature, spring, fertility and nourishment; the month of May was dedicated to her.
NovaPalma was the ancient name of a fortified Venetian city laid out as a regular nine-pointed star, with each bastion designed to protect the neighbouring bastions.
