Label / history
The name “Maia” refers to one of the seven sisters forming the Pleiades constellation. In ancient tradition, she guided the sailors and farmers of Lake Garda during navigation and harvest. A daughter of Atlas, Maia was regarded by the Greeks as the most beautiful of the Pleiad nymphs. She was loved by Zeus and became the mother of Hermes. Legend associated her with destructive fire as well as nature, spring, fertility and nourishment; the month of May was dedicated to her.
NovaPalma takes its name from an ancient Venetian fortified city constructed as a nine-pointed star, with mutually protective bastions.
