Vineyard and terroir
The Berici Hills are a series of ancient volcanic formations between Verona and Padua. The climate is very mild and sunny, similar to the Mediterranean, and grapes have been grown in the region for thousands of years. Both D.O.C. and I.G.T. wines are produced there. Red wines of the hills are made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet-Carmenere, Pinot Nero, Sangiovese, Barbera, Tai Rosso and Raboso.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. Vinification is the traditional red-wine method, with gentle pressing and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Light, fresh and easy to drink, in the style of the "Terre Allegre" range. A charming semi-sweet red.
Serving and pairing
Best served chilled.
Label / history
Cielo E Terra was founded in 1908. Its name combines terra, "earth", with Cielo, the surname of the founding family. In 1930, under Pietro Cielo, the company began expanding and improving its production, and new vineyards were established in 1962. The winery is now run by the fourth-generation brothers Luca and Pierpaolo Cielo. It owns around 300 ha of land and is one of the largest producers in the Veneto. It belongs to "Gruppo Cantine Colli Berici", a group of cellars with around 4,000 ha of vineyards, where most of its wines are produced. With the group's winemakers, it takes part in a project to improve production and agriculture in the Berici Hills, from vineyard to bottle.
