Label / history
Cielo e Terra was founded in 1908. Its name joins terra, "land", with the surname of the founding Cielo family. In 1930, under Pietro Cielo, the company began expanding and improving its production. New vineyards were planted in 1962 and production grew. The winery is now run by the fourth-generation brothers Luca and Pierpaolo Cielo. It owns around 300 ha and is one of the largest producers in the Veneto. It belongs to the Gruppo Cantine Colli Berici ("The Colli Berici Group of Cellars"), which has around 4,000 ha of vineyards and where most of the company's wines are produced. With the group's winemakers, Cielo e Terra takes part in a project to improve production and agriculture in the Berici Hills, from vineyard to bottle.
The Colli Berici are a chain of ancient volcanic hills between Verona and Padua, with a very mild, sunny, Mediterranean-like climate, where vines have been grown for thousands of years. They produce DOC and IGT wines.
